My name is Simone Orlik. I’m German, aged 46 and live in Germany, about one-and-a-half hours north of Frankfurt. Professionally I’m a copywriter with almost twenty years experience in marketing communications, particularly websites, online magazines and social media.
I love writing, photography, baking and holidays abroad. Twenty years ago I met an Englishman from Birmingham, now my husband, and since then my knowledge and love of all things British has grown exponentially – be it in traditions or regions such as cricket, cream teas and Cornwall, or in more everyday topics, for example what makes the perfect British breakfast, Britpop or the Bull Ring shopping centre!
My husband and I regularly travel to the UK with our two bilingual boys and our black labrador. So all-in-all it seemed a natural step in 2017 to start a blog focused on traveling around Great Britain, British food, especially British cakes and British culture.

Since tea-and-scones started, the number of visitors has risen and the blog is well integrated into various social media channels such as Instagram, Pinterest and Facebook. A media kit in English or German is available on request.
I’m always on the look for commercial co-operations. Recent projects have included a book review of a tea guide, travel destination reports and my own cake recipe development using a company’s special ingredients. Tea and Scones“ ist ein Travel- und Foodblog, in dem sich alles rund um das Thema Großbritannien dreht. Egal, ob es um klassisch britische Gerichte, Reisetipps oder typisch britische Spleens handelt: Das alles finden Sie in regelmäßigen Abständen auf meinem Blog. Neben meiner Liebe zum Reisen ist und bleibt mein Herzblut das Backen. „Ich backe für mein Leben gern und die britische Kultur liefert eine Fülle toller und bei uns in Deutschland eher unbekannter Rezepte, die zum Nachmachen einladen.“
Zu der ungewöhnlichen Blog-Idee bin ich gekommen, weil ich selbst in einer englisch/deutsch geprägten Familie lebe. Während ich selbst deutsche Wurzeln habe und gebürtig vom Niederrhein stamme, wurde mein Partner in Großbritannien geboren undist dort aufgewachsen. Der große Teil der Familie und viele Freunde leben bis heute in England. Unsere Söhne wachsen in beiden Kulturen und Sprachen auf.
